BAITUSSALAM BAKERY, COBANBEY, SYRIA:

The Syrian Conflict left millions of Syrians families to displace to the tent city at the borders of Turkey in Cobanbey Area. To tackle the food insecurity that has unfolded during the Syrian crisis, in 2017, Baitussalam installed a state-of- the-art bread plant imported from Germany with an estimated cost of 2.5 million dollars at the Turkey/Syrian border. The bread plant has the capacity of producing 120,000 rotis on daily basis. Alhumdulillah, with the generous support of Muslims around the world, Baitussalam is able to serve the devastated Syrian families until to-date.

COVID-19 RESPONSE DOOR-TO-DOOR FOOD DISTRIBUTION:

In late March, 2020, where the COVID-19 global outbreak of pandemic severely affected the overall global economy, it also impacted the already deteriorating economy of Pakistan. Millions of families of daily wage workers and self-employed skill workers lost their livelihood during lock down and later during the economic recession. In order to prevent mass starvation of communities, during the span of only two months, Baitussalam distributed ration, cooked food and roti to approximately 3.5 Million beneficiaries applying door-to-door delivery across the urban slums of Pakistan.

To address the challenge, Baitussalam has opened a Grocery Market for the most vulnerable households in Karachi. The Baitussalam Imdadi Markaz provides monthly ration on a highly subsidized rates to the households who have either lost their bread earners or are critically suffering from other issues like life threatening medical conditions, disability or elderly people without any caretaker.
